The Mayflower Compact

Does anyone remember the Mayflower...? The Mayflower was a ship that brought over the first settlers to America back in 1620. Why did they come to America...?

The Mayflower Compact explains very succinctly that they came to America by the grace of God for the Glory of God to advance the Christian faith...!

The Mayflower story is a very interesting one. In my research I discovered that approximately half of the 101 passengers of the Mayflower voyage were 'Separatists' (Christians who had split from the Anglican church) and the other half were 'strangers' who were allowed to make the trip because they were willing to pay their way to the new world and the trip needed additional financing.

I wonder if that was truly God's will to mix Christians and non christians in a business venture?...? -Could that be the reason that the Mayflower's sister ship was unseaworthy and everyone had to crowd aboard the Mayflower...? Could that be the reason for the horrible weather for much of the 65 day journey at sea...?

We will never know the answers to those questions this side of heaven, but the fact remains that the original intent of the Separatists was to live for the Glory of God and that's good enough for me.
